Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Spouse Over Alleged Dual Voter IDs

On Monday, the Delhi High Court intervened by halting the enforcement of a trial court’s summons directed at Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The case revolved around allegations that she possessed two voter identification cards.

Justice Amit Bansal acknowledged Sunita Kejriwal’s plea and postponed the execution of the trial court’s order until February 1, 2024, which is the scheduled date for the next court hearing.

The Metropolitan Magistrate Arjinder Kaur, presiding over the Tis Hazari Courts, had previously issued summonses to Sunita Kejriwal, setting the date for November 18. These actions were taken in response to accusations that she had violated the Representation of the People Act, 1950, by having her name listed as a voter in two different assembly constituencies. The complaint initiating this legal process was filed by Harish Khurana, a prominent member of the BJP.
