GST council may consider sugar cess:
Sugar in our tea may get a little sour. GST council may consider levying sugar cess to ensure the minimum price to sugarcane farmers. Government is exploring the possibility of sugar cess. This issue may be taken up in coming GST council meeting.Three ministers today met to discuss the possibilities to overcome the huge arrears of sugarcane farmers.These sugarcane arrears have touched Rs. 19000 crores.
