CBI arrested 4 GST officials for asking bribe. A complaint was made by a taxpayer. Allegedly they were asking bribe from the sanitizer manufacturers. Although he has deposited the difference of duty. Some days back it was clarified by the CBIC that the rate of GST on sanitizers is 18% and nit 12%. But many manufacturers were charging 12%. So they were required to pay the difference. But then some GST officers asked them to pay bribe either face the consequences.
One of those sanitizer manufacturers raised a complaint in CBI. A raid was conducted by the CBI at their premises. Cash and other valuable items were seized.
